Photo shoot day at Coney Island!
The Cardinals mingled with the seagulls today at Coney Island for some promo photographs. Fun was had by all and we’re a bit sun baked having spent a considerable amount of time in the bright sunshine. That, of course, is something that musicians don’t really do that often.
Anyway… we head out tomorrow for the first show of the next tour leg and we’re all looking forward to jamming for all you cave dwellers! See you out there! JG

Werepom’s chin
warm
rhythmic breaths
meditative
unamused with
finger tips
taptaptaptap
finger taps
industrial noise
nose or
snout against
knee
a few licks
deep meditative
breaths
content
restful
part of the
leisure class
not in the
Thorstein
Veblen
sense or
sensibility
more in the
bodhi dharma
sense
probably more
dharma bum
great
antidepressant
this loving
canine
what does
this have
to do with
seagulls
well
Werepom
insisted on
lovejacking
and cuddlejacking
this poem
this present
moment
the only
one we
have
although
your moment
with your
eyes different
than this
present moment
now past moment
tree fallen
forest always
hears itself
every sound
sounds
Werepom’s
right gremlin
ear flicks
against my
right bicep
soft cuddly
fur tickles
animal
against animal
lovingly
and seagulls
fascinate me
their will to
survive
their will to
recycle
their will to
improve
Mom Earth
to lessen the
destruction of
garbage
seagulls
very Buddhist
perhaps Jainist
yeah
that’s too
far gone
no direction
at all
a complete
unknown
no Jainist
for they
will eat
meat
socks
even my
brown socks
if steak
sauce
covers socks
they will dance
for popcorn
roaches
berries
remnants of
Central Park
baked beans
baked in
24th Street
microwave on
September 24th
Hot Doug’s

Chicago
provide gold
for some
seagulls
not worried
about sea
fish kelp
content to
find prey in
dumpsters
wrappers
behind
Hot Doug’s
on hot
September 24th
day of days
and I watch
these
beautiful
survivors
homeless in
Chicago
watch them
recycle
dance
communicate
emanate life
survival of
the fittest
Darwinism
beautiful
Darwinism
and I look
to the blue
sky
briefly
interconnect
with the
lense and the
beauty done
by a full-
time human
part-
time slide
guitar player
mindful of
five beautiful
surviving
seagulls
creating
beauty in
the blue skies
over Brooklyn
over
Chilidog Island
five seagulls
like five Cardinals
create art
live fully in
present moment
for the
present moment
the only moment
any of us
have
when I say us
I do not separate
myself from
seagulls
for I am
partially
interconnected
with seagulls
and they with
me
for I love to
feed seagulls
when in
Chicago just
as I love to
feed pigeons
tell the seagulls
and pigeons
that they are
pretty
just as all
the pretty horses
are pretty
even those
not written about
by Cormac
McCarthy or
those who do
not run for
the Roses
I don’t know
maybe it was
the Roses
sang Phil
Lesh as
Jerry Garcia
doodled pure
catharsis and
relaxation
his guitar
interconnections
live
breathe
interconnect still
today
and these artistic
five seagulls
partially
displayed in
Jon Graboff’s
camera eye
these five
seagulls
they may
continue to
survive in
Brooklyn
Chicago
Miami
Daytona
if there are
no seagulls
in Heaven
no roaches
rats even
mosquitoes and
brown recluse
spiders in
heaven
then you can
meet my
restless soul
in the morning
56th and
Wabasha
we can make
it hell
before the
snow begins
to thaw
