Oh, a second of our (the CARDINALS) new single “FIX-IT is below”
i am obscuring it with stuffs because me and Foggy are BACK in a major way. I am about to get SLEAZY HANDSHAKE (fictional metal band I am in with only myself as a member in said existentialist Hair Metal/Heavy Rock band)…..
uh. oh, right, like, “FIX-IT” is the first single from our Album.
this is the ULTIMATE Cardinals record- (my name falls off when you open the packaging (ha)….. on the floor and sweaty and ready…..every dynamic was captured as we had OUR BADASS CREW set up our stuff “exactly” as it is live- but across the room, we set up (BLUE CAVE- code word for our same set-up acoustic) and did what had to be done right there, right there in the muck of the moment.
Neal and I got a few cool 70’s keyboards, basically whatever traffic or WINGS used, a Fender Rhodes, a wurlitzer, and a B-3 (we didn’t use that because Steve Winwood is humiliatingly so good, to even attempt a reference would be so weird.
and this record, it is hopeful. it is romantic. every song has a line that is meant to give hope, and i opened up and gave myself more when I sang. Because I felt safe for those soft souls around me you know as Cardinals and I know as brothers.
how odd to say that, right, it sounds so “yester-year, speaking of singles, and albums…still, though progress proves right so often, there are just some institutions worth holding on to even of they seem like a passing phase (metal, historical buildings, national parks(!!!!!!!!), animal-rights, democratic-socialism……..still
there was once a band called The Smiths, and their singles, and their Albums, they both served what those words mean, when you think about what a single or Album might mean if it were as serious as a painting by DeKooning or Picasso, and even now, even now OASIS does this, Foo Fighters and Sonic Youth do this…..
so it’s nice, despite “the great leveling of the musical playing feild” to say “single” and “album”
i will always think when i say those words, that their meaning is the same as “painting” or “novel”
i cannot imagine not holding it so fast to the meaning of my life.
but that is because records, bands, music, Albums, and even, yes, singles (“Gypsy” by Fleetwood Mac comes to mind, how powerful that was on the radio) saved my life and gave me such direction.
now, back to madness video hair metal fun……i have to do press and stuff tomorrow with the guy’s but i am holding out, staying up (i finished my work the day yay) and waiting to hear how someone’s jams went over on the pacific northwest where those mountains loom and you can feel the ocean grow dim. what a pretty part of the country or the world for that.
i am always a fan of anyplace weather-weird. i find it an attractive quality and worthy or blink blushes.
